Lakeland spoke after the game, saying, “Another bad day for us and unfortunately now there’s been too many of those, we can’t shy away from that.” He added that the first half was “controlled but too safe” and that the team “was too passive” when behind. The manager criticised the defensive error that allowed Clegg’s opener, calling it “one of the worst goals I’ve ever seen.” He demanded more fight, stating, “I need more character, I need more personality, I need more from the players.”

The match also saw injuries compound Morecambe’s squad problems. Cameron Coxe was stretchered off during the game, following recent injuries to Ronnie Blois and Lewis Leigh.
