Morecambe fought back to earn a valuable point away to promotion-chasing Oxford City in a 1-1 draw on Saturday. J. Garner's 55th-minute strike was cancelled out by a stoppage-time equaliser from A. Potter, but the result extends Morecambe's positive run of form.

Garner's goal came ten minutes into the second half, giving the visitors a lead they held until the dying moments. Oxford City, who sit second in the National League North and had only dropped points three times all season, found a dramatic leveller in the fourth minute of added time through Potter.

The point lifts Morecambe to 10th in the table with 13 points from nine games. It continues a strong spell under manager Adam Lakeland, with the team now unbeaten in three matches across all competitions. Since securing their first league win of the campaign, Morecambe have taken nine points from a possible twelve.

Lakeland, who joined the club in April, has been praised for building a resilient and competitive squad. "The club praised Lakeland for his ability to foster strong team identity and build resilient, competitive squads," he said after the match.

Morecambe's recent fixtures show a marked improvement, with wins over Brackley Town and Southport in the FA Cup preceding this draw. They now turn their attention to an away trip to face Worksop Town on 10 October.

Manager Adam Lakeland said a late refereeing decision cost Morecambe two points in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Oxford City. He told reporters the free-kick leading to the equaliser was "one of the softest you will see in world football today". Lakeland said his team, now 11th with 14 points, is "a completely different beast" compared to their early-season form.
