Morecambe complete the signing of former Barnsley, Harrogate Town and FC Halifax Town defender Will Smith. The 27-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the Shrimps, upon the end of his contract with FC Halifax Town. A former youngster at Barnsley, Smith also featured for Harrogate Town, Scunthorpe United and York City prior to joining Halifax two years ago. He played 56 times in his two seasons there, the second of which came under Lakeland as they finished eighth in the National League this season. Speaking after agreeing terms with the club, Smith said: 'The size of the club is a big factor, I came in last week and the stadium is nice, it's big. The club has got history, it's got the feel of a proper football club. Behind the scenes, they've got some big plans and a very good vision for the next three years which made my decision easier and I'm excited.'
