Morecambe FC Owners Dispute Regulator's Warning Notice
Morecambe FC owners Kuljit Singh and Harjit Singh have hit back at the Independent Football Regulator (IFR) after the regulator issued a warning notice to the club and its two directors over an alleged failure to provide information.
What Happened?
The IFR issued a warning notice to Morecambe FC Limited and its directors, Kuljit Singh and Harjit Singh, on Thursday. The notice states that the club and its owners allegedly breached information requirements imposed under the Football Governance Act. The IFR said it had provisionally determined that the club and its owners failed to respond to two requests for information without reasonable excuse.
Why It Matters for Morecambe
The club has strongly disputed the regulator's findings, saying that insufficient weight had been given to significant mitigating factors, including the challenges inherited following Panjab Warriors' takeover of Morecambe in August last year. The club added that the alleged breach was considered by the IFR to be at its lowest level of seriousness.
What Comes Next?
Morecambe FC confirmed that they are seeking legal advice and intend to challenge the regulator's position. The club said that they will submit detailed representations within the 14-day period prescribed by the IFR. They remain confident that those representations will demonstrate why no further regulatory action is warranted.
The club also thanked supporters, sponsors, and staff for their backing during a difficult period and said it remained committed to engaging with supporters' groups and community representatives. Morecambe added that, following the club's rescue by the Panjab Warriors consortium, it was proud of the progress made on and off the pitch ahead of the 2026/27 season and was looking forward to the campaign with renewed optimism.
The IFR has not yet imposed a final sanction. The warning notice sets out the regulator's provisional view and gives the club and its directors 14 days to respond before a final decision is made.

The club has scored 66 goals and conceded 103 (-37 goal difference) this season, and is 70 points behind leaders York in the title race.
